One of the key elements to succeeding in the arena of Session Singing is being able to mimic well and provide a broad palette of vocal sounds. This can make you money as a session singer.

The skill of working with a producer to obtain exactly the sound that he/she wants is a must. Top session singers are those that are able to provide many different aspects to their voice.

Your ability to sing backing vocals will also be needed, especially in the era where home studios are the norm & people no longer hire in an entire choir.

I constantly practise my ability to harmonise to songs on the radio by making up new harmonies that would go with the chords underpinning the vocal topline melody.

If you find it hard to pick out harmonies, don’t worry – so did I in the beginning – this certainly improves with practice and experience. For some free Singers Resources to help you improve click here

All the best,
