Can you get me to sing in tune?
Everyone can sing in tune. Some take a little more time than others to pitch notes accurately. I have never had a student who does not improve.
I have a special occasion coming up and I want to be able to sing in public with confidence. Can you help?
On a practical level, confidence is boosted from having solid vocal technique. Onstage performance techniques are covered in the lessons. I am so passionately into this I have begun the process of writing a book about this very matter! I build your knowledge on the psychology of performing so that you have plenty of preparation for singing in public. Yes it is scary, and yes you will break through the barriers holding you back to feel excitement about performing, not just sheer fear!
Do I have to be able to read music?
However, if you want to learn, there are plenty of great theory exercises on the singer’s resource page of this site to teach you the basics of music reading so you can learn songs easily & quickly. If you are looking to audition for Music School, Theatre School, BIMM or a University Vocal Course, your theory may need a brush up, so please do ask which are the best exercises on everything from key signatures, to ear training & sight-reading.
I have an audition or competition coming up. Can you help?
I have prepared students for a huge range of auditions and competitions including:
University & Music School Entry Auditions
Musical Theatre Auditions
X Factor Auditions
Choirs (as a member or solo performer)
Talent shows (local and national)
What about age?
I have teach students from age 8 to 90! We sing & laugh the same whatever age – don’t let age ever stop you! :-)
How much does a group lesson cost? Can I share a lesson with other people?
Yes, you can share the lesson and fee with other people (up to a maximum group size of 3, due to space). As we want to make the lessons cost-effective and retain quality at all times the size of the group will depend on the age of the student.
