Charlie Tarr “Having always enjoyed singing but never had any lessons, I wasn’t too sure what to expect when I signed up for a batch of 10 lessons with Chip. 6 lessons in, l I have learnt a huge amount, had a great deal of fun and shall be signing up not only for more individual lessons but group singing as well. I would and have recommended Brighton Singing Lessons to anyone looking to improve their singing and have a laugh at the same time.”
Megan McDermott “Brighton Singing Lessons is a transformative experience that has allowed me to learn so much about myself and my voice, than I ever thought possible. I study music and theatre in New York, and I recently signed on with Brighton Singing Lessons, as I am studying in England for a year. Working with Chip Jenkins is an absolute delight. She inspires and pushes her students to reach their fullest potential, while teaching essential technique for the voice. I have taken the group classes, along with private lessons, and both are invaluable assets to my growth as a singer and performer. I have worked with many private lesson instructors, however none of them come close to the knowledge, confidence, improvement, and growth I have gained through working with Chip and using Brighton Singing Lessons. I recommend Brighton Singing Lessons to a range of individuals–those with a serious interest in pursing music,as well as those looking to improve their voices and give singing a try. I am beyond grateful and satisfied for my experiences with Brighton Singing Lessons, and working with Chip Jenkins.”
“Chip is an amazing singing teacher. I have had singing lessons with Chip for almost a year now and everything has improved – from my knowledge of technique and repertoire to performance. I would recommend Chip to anyone who wants to learn something worth while. For anyone who wants a friendly, honest and inspiring singing teacher then definitely book with Brighton Singing Lessons!!”
“I have studied at Live Performance workshop with Chip Jenkins for the past 2 years. My technique has improved in both my delivery and standard of my vocal, and my stage prescence. I’ve grown 100% as an artist ; I now feel totally comfortable whilst performing and interacting with the audience. I learnt the valuable lesson of how to sing hard rock vocals without causing any damage to my voice. Working with Chip has pushed me further than my original expectations, and she ‘s a great inspiration to me, and I’m sure anyone else who works with her. I now work on my original material with my own band Dy-Star. We gig all over the country, and are now embarking on a UK tour!”

“I was taught by Chip @ the ACM. When I started at the Academy I knew how to sing a song and that was pretty much it! I learnt many things from Chip in the time that I was there. I learnt about how to REALLY deliver a song both vocally and visually. I developed valued skills such as phrasing, dynamics, emotions and all these other factors that I had never thought of!! I also learnt very quickly from Chip that it is all about your attitude and approach to the business. If you have a bad attitude you don’t have a chance in hell! Having learnt that I am now fortunate enough to use these skills in the two bands I am currently in. They are The Brit Hoolas [originals] and King Biscuit [Blues Rock]. Check us out sometime!”

“Chip has an energetic and fun method of teaching that encourages even the meekest, i.e. me, to forget their stagefright and remember why they are there…to sing. She has specifically worked with me on building my confidence in performance and learning to enjoy the stage and my audience. Chip has brought out the best in me and has pointed me in the right direction to get better.”

“The performance workshop weekend was a lot of fun. I was pleased that there were opportunities for me to work with a group and individually. I hadn’t danced for a long time so I was a bit worried when I saw the dance routine that she had in store for us! Chip’s enthusiasm and energy is infectious though, and I felt encouraged and supported throughout. Using her techniques for conserving energy I found that I could comfortably sing and dance at the same time. During my individual session with Chip she taught me specific ways that I personally could immediately improve my performance. I now feel much more confident about moving on stage and connecting with the audience. I’m looking forward to working with Chip again!”

“Chip taught me during 2002-2003 at The Academy Of Contemporary Music. Chip has a very friendly approach to teaching which is great if you have any inhibitions about singing. She taught me a lot about how to learn a song technically, by marking lyric sheets to work in your favour, and the techniques she taught me regarding writing vocal licks has been really useful. Chip is able to quickly monitor any vocal problems and has the best advice and tricks to eliminate them. Everything Chip taught me over the year has been very valuable to me as a singer and a teacher. Thanks Chip!”

“I have loved working with Chip, she is so enthusiastic and full of energy. She has taught me a lot, whether its posture, energy on stage or forcing me to use twang!! I have learnt a lot about on stage presence too. Chip if a fantastic teacher and I hope she will carry on to influence me in the future!”

“Since studying at the ACM and receiving tutoring from Chip, my confidence as a performer has grown amazingly. Chip especially helped me with my stagecraft and movement techniques, at a time when I was feeling very self-conscious on stage and nerves were getting the better of me. I have made such progress due to Chip’s enthusiasm and true commitment to me as a vocalist. Due to Chip’s encouragement, I am now in the middle of recording my demo, and breaking into the world of being a working musician!”
Phoebe Gorry
“I have only been working with Chip for a short while, but within 5 or 6 lessons and 1 weekend workshop my confidence and singing technique has improved 100 fold. I have even had compliments from the musicians in the band (high praise indeed as they are my biggest critics). At the work shop the dance routine was a challenge, but learning the moves has given me loads of simple ideas to use on stage with my band. For the first time in ages I feel truly inspired and am in total awe of Chip’s funk and energy!”
